We need a very Flat Income Tax

About my Mission

 

I am a retired tax professional, an attorney (JD, LLM in Taxation) and a CPA, and thus bring a lifetime of relevant training and experience to this subject. I was a partner in a major international firm, a co-author of a 3 volume tax treatise, and a frequent lecturer domestically and internationally.

 

I first heard about the so-called "FairTax" (FT) at Tea Party rallies in 2009 and was naturally curious to analyze it in depth so that I could properly understand it. I began reading, analyzing and learning which led me to my mission of exposing what I had come to understand were the fatal flaws (political and financial) of the disastrous FT - to counter the superificial and deceptive propaganda marketing campaign being conducted by the large national grass-roots lobby, the Americans For Fair Taxation (AFFT). Today, I act as a resource to activists, including taking part in presentations, webinars and blog-talk-radio programs around the country.

 

To dispel many invalid criticisms attacking my personal interest, I must note; 

• I have no vested personal or friends & family financial interest in maintaining the current Income Tax system. 

• My very Flat Income Tax proposal would eliminate tax preparers and planners.

• I would likely pay less tax under the FT than I would pay under an Income Tax.

 

In my opinion, a very Flat Income Tax would be the rational, sensible, evolutionary next step in reforming our tax system, would solve most all of the problems with our current tax system and would also spur substantial economic growth - it would be one very important step we can take towards funding our enormous national debt (a step second only to reducing federal spending down to Constitutional limits).
